How do large urban areas reduce waste going to landfills by over 33 percent?
HSAL completed demographic and housing projections and developed social acceptance predictions with respect to various policies for reducing, recycling and reusing domestic waste in Canada's most populated area "Greater Toronto". We completed a thorough analysis of the propensity of citizens to recycle, reuse and reduce based on demographic characteristics. We completed surveys and focus group research to determine the needs of industrial, commercial and institutional waste producers. Our research helped to steer the program toward greater emphasis on recycling in multi-unit apartments and rental housing types.
